Artist Statement: My joyful career in fine art helps me to bring to others my truth of life, love, and passion through my eyes and soul. The artists who inspire me include Frida Kahlo, Pablo Picasso, Mary Cassatt, and Juan Gris, among many others. I admire the ideas, philosophies, emotional connection, and technique in their works. I’m inspired by the poetry of beauty, by the power of nature, and the energy of big cities, like my birth- place of Mexico City. I am fascinated by the architecture of Chicago. The cityscape takes on an almost cubist quality. In my self-portraits, I am trying to convey a sense of wonder and the presence of life, as well as to honor my culture and bring it to a new level for the viewer to enjoy. I’ve learned through my instructors over the years that it’s best to let my art come from within, and express myself naturally. I strongly believe in Art through Passion!

Continuing the joyful career to bring my truth about life and love in heart and passion in my soul and eyes. Surprisingly this last semester our new director of this fine drawing certificate program Ms. Frances Waddock & my advisor Michael Barlow communicated that I was one of the first drawing certificate students to follow two other of my classmates from past semesters. Happily sharing this fine exhibition with all my classmates and dear friends in security like Eddie and my great spiritual advisors from St. Peter’s Church, Rev. Charles Faso, W. Church. Br. Jim Finn, and Br. John Joseph Bush. Special blessing from our Pope John Paul II, and our Cardinal Francis George and welcomed in my home in Berwyn from Alderman of the 3rd Ward Mark Winer and Diane Winer. It was l opened my new business the summer of 2000. It called Paloma Lia Art Gallery in the location of my classmate Mark Nelson’s Design business in the heart of the North Riverside Suburb near Oak Park, and thinking in other projects of continuing my education and giving art classes for all ages. Wishing you all love and peace that wild dreams can come true!
At this time I am pursuing my career in photography at the College of Lake county where I have been blessed with instructors like Prof. Erick Rowe, Ms. Yang Xian and Mr. Hans Habeger.
I deeply I appreciate many other artists' support especially from my partner and better half fine artist, cartoonist and Manager James Bakula II.
God Bless to every one of you and everything that helps keep me growing spiritually and artistically.
